Karla – I so need to improve my Parenting Skills

Karla and I were at home by ourselves tonight,  Stephen and Luke had gone out – and she said she was  having the “worst-est night ever!“.  Earlier she said she had a sore throat – (she always has one when she wants hot chocolate) so I played along and asked if she needed  some hot Chocolate,  she was very chirpy saying ” isn’t it so  funny Mom, (she thinks she’s straight off the Disney Channel) that unhealthy things makes you better when you’re sick” -” like chocolate cake and hot chocolate!! “. (she was so not sick)

Then we moved on to me being on the computer – which wasn’t good, so I let her sit on my knee to watch a funny video I was watching on Facebook, she was all delighted and said “is this a suprise” because it was taking a while to load up, – but when it did load she said  ‘WHAT! a man laughing and talking isn’t a nice surprise!! - maltesers is a surprise, (chocolate sweets)  chocolate cookies or a latte is a surprise! – not some stupid man!!” (eh hello- a latte??) then she went on to say that she was “going to really cry with real tears” unless she got a “nice surprise!!” - and I was “making her have the worst night ever”, I started to feel bad (I had already given her a chocolate cow!! – don’t ask!), she walked away from me crying – but  then she started to sing to herself  -” you spin me right round baby….(Alvin and the Chipmunks). I was confused ” Karla “are you singing or crying ??” to which she replied – “I’m trying to take my mind off  how mean you are to me!!” -  OK so she’s 4 – what am I going to do when she’s 14 ?? Is there a book out there somewhere I should be reading??
